Graphic Design I covers desktop publishing and design/color basics. Microsoft Publisher 2003 is used extensively and students will learn all the features that this program has to offer. Students will also cover basic design principles. Students will reproduce assigned projects as well as construct and design their own creative works.

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • Demonstrate the ability to save and retrieve files, create directories and manage the computer desktop.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of Microsoft Publisher tools and menus.
  • Use computer hardware and Microsoft Publisher software to design documents including newsletters, brochures, business sets, resumes, tables, graphs and other publishing materials.
  • Learn the basic rules of graphic design and demonstrate their use using the Microsoft drawing program by producing and designing materials and printing them.

Materials:
Students will need a Jump/Flash Drive . It is also recommended that students have a folder for their assignments.

Corrections:
Students have the option of correcting any text exercises. Handouts, quizzes and final course projects cannot be corrected. If they choose to make corrections, they must return them stapled on top of the original project the day they were given back to the student. Late corrections will not be accepted.

Computer Lab:
The lab is open for students to come in and catch up on their work every morning at 6:45 am and during the lunch period.
